Island Stone Beach Glass Tile

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Stormy seas, one of the most vicious examples of nature’s power. A piece of glass caught in the middle of the tempest is thrashed by endless waves.  Barraged by water, silt, sand and salt, the edges are softened while the surface is randomly etched, a permanent reminder of mother oceans strength. Finally, the anger subsides, the ocean calms and the sand and silt drop away from the surface, leaving crystal clear water gently lapping an uninhabited islands flawless white beach. The beach glass, a survivor of the storm sits glistening on the shoreline. Its subtle color is still a powerful presence against the endless grains of sand.  Mans creation enhanced by natures dynamic personality. Welcome to the inspiration for Island Stone’s beach glass tile. Original cuts, uniquely textured, and offered in a wide range of natural hues, designed to bring the vibrant personality of beach glass into your design.  See what our individual glass tiles or glass mosaic can bring to your project at www.islandstone.com

The advantage of using Pebble and Random Tile Blends

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Island Stone has been combining different colors and types of natural stone together into a single tile since we invented the first Pebble Tile back in 1998.

Our most popular Random Tile of all time is the Mega Mix Quartz & Marble, and continues to be among the top sellers.  Since then, we have added other stunning looking stone combinations to the Random Tile Group, such as the Grey Mega Mix and Beige & Tan Mix, to name just a couple.

Early this year we introduced new blends to the Perfect Pebble Group called Birds’ Egg, Poppy Seed, and Black and Tan color combinations, thus stepping into a whole new era of design options for Pebble Tile. Tastefully combining different sized and colored stones together into one tile has opened up many new design capabilities.

In rooms where a different colored wall and floor tile meet, as in a bath area, a well chosen pebble blend in the shower pan, can tie the design together.  That’s only one example, but our tiles have always been great as an accent piece that links the different surfaces, colors, and stone choices of an innovative design together.

This year with the Pebble Blends in the Perfect Pebble Group, designing an individual and unique living space has gotten easy.

If you have seen the amazing creations designers and architects have developed through combining our original and large V-tiles,  it should come as little suprise to hear about our newest additions to our V-tile line.  Subtle but distinctive, the new honed Vitile offers a longer shaped wedge (2”x16”) that retains the original V-Tile aesthetic abeit with a smooth honed surface. Sloping gradually from thin to thick, V-Tile adds a stunning three dimensional relief to a wall.  Island Stone’s newest and most innovative product in the Cladding Series, the V-Tile is possibly the most versatile of all our tile products. Naturally, visually dramatic, V-tile offers a wide range of different  looks depending on pattern of offsets chosen. Recognizing the popularity of combining various sized Vtile formats, in conjunction with the relaease of the new Vtile format  in the honed Tropical White and Temple Lava stones,  we launched the same stones in our established 4′x16″ large V-tile format.
